From Plastique Fantastique, an art collective founded by Marco Canevacci (Dr. Trouble) and YenaYoung (Ms. Bubble), comes the D.I.Y.iSphere. Materials amounting to some $26 from an art supply source can be configured, in 30 minutes to become protective globes, inspired by “the science fiction comics of the 50s and the creations of the utopian movements of the 60s,” according to Dr. T and Ms. B. This proposal, and performance, were created in response to the April 27th edict, in Berlin, that while on public transit, covering one’s mouth and nose were to be mandatory.

The sphere connects to their earlier architecturally-scaled interventions characterized by tubes, spheres, and circles, surprising forms and juxtapositions, and tongue-in-cheek attitude.
