La ligne bleue #2, 2014; models, photographs and project proposals
La ligne bleue (The blue line), is a proposal for a site-specific intervention that Moreau hopes to realize in Manhattan’s Financial District. Visible at night, the blue line would stretch across 20 buildings along the waterfront, forming a 65-meter high horizontal line created using blue gels from within the interiors of the skyscrapers. The line is meant to represent the rising sea level resulting from melting glaciers and ice caps that is predicted if humanity continues on its current trajectory. The proposal consists of a photomontage, virtual animation, models, and photographs of the technical tests carried out in Montreal in 2013.
A dire (and even apocalyptic) message is translated into a subtle and minimal form designed to attract that viewer in order to convey the warning for those wanting to dig deeper into the meaning of the residual blue line.
Moreau graduated in 1992 from Université Paris VIII in visual arts before settling in Quebec, Canada in order to pursue her studies in scenography in 1995. Since the 2000s, she has developed a body of work combining her skills in both scenography and visual arts. Recipient of numerous grants, she has presented her work in events such as the Prague Biennale and the Nuit Blanche of Montreal. Aude Moreau has participated in several exhibitions in different locations including the Fonderie Darling, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, in France, in the United States, and in Luxembourg. Her work is part of numerous public and private collections. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, such as the Prix Louis Comtois in 2016, the Bourse Claudine et Stephen Bronfman en art contemporain (Montreal, 2011) and the Powerhouse Prize from La Centrale (Montreal, 2011).
